Why We Started North Adams
We started North Adams because it was a struggle finding graphic tees with simple designs. The t-shirts available online and in stores were either too busy or just not our style. We knew there were talented artists out there creating unique, visually engaging artwork that would work well on shirts. And so we partnered with some of the most uniquely talented artists around the world to bring you a better graphic tee. We are continually curating new work to add to our collection.
Our Company Name
At North Adams we celebrate independent artists and creative ventures of all kinds. In fact our name is inspired by a vibrant art community in Northwest Massachusetts. North Adams, MA is a small town in the Berkshire mountains that embraces art and culture and supports artists in a variety of ways. The town is home to one of the largest contemporary art museum in North America, the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA).
Quality Above All
When building our business it became clear that, although good design was the driving goal, our graphic tees had to be durable, fit right, and be comfortable. Boat loads of attention have gone into researching and comparing suppliers, materials, printing quality, and fit preferences to make our t-shirts. We settled on a shirt model made of premium fabrics and a supplier that takes great care when assembling them. The result is super soft, lightweight and durable t-shirts that are comfortable to wear, cut just right, and will hold up to mountain biking and/or rambunctious kids.
Our Business Model

Our business model is a little different. In order to find a wide range of interesting and well designed artwork, we needed to scour the globe for uniquely skilled artists. We did just that, and continue to do so. Our design mix has a little something for everyone and each of the designs has been curated tirelessly by reviewing hundreds of portfolios. Our artists are indeed our partners and we count them as a key to the success of our business.
